Two months ago I wrote a post about a problem with corrupt or un-retrieved Performance and Holdings data using the publishing feature within google spreadsheet.
Instead I have created manual snapshots from time to time, and this works much better, the problem is more or less gone.
But my initial ambition was to use the blog to be able to easily get a health check of the portfolio and the holdings, without logging into the different broker accounts or to dig into my spreadsheet. And with manual snapshots this ambition cannot be fulfilled.
Therefore I have automated the manual work, using a small javascript running at regular intervals, and this seems to work reliably. I can tell you that I am proud like a little child, these are my first lines of code in 25 years.
For the first time I now have a portfolio health check constantly and in seconds available using my mobile phone.
